Peal.

Ask your assistant for an alarm. Peal rings it on your iPhone.

Peal connects Claude, or another assistant that supports connectors, to real iPhone alarms. Say wake me at 6:30 tomorrow and the assistant asks Peal to put the alarm on your phone. Once it is there, it rings even when the phone is on silent or in a Focus.

There is no account to make. Peal never sets an alarm on its own. Only you, through an assistant, can.

While Peal is in testing, an alarm reaches your phone only while Peal is open on screen. After you ask, open Peal and wait a few seconds until the alarm shows SET. Once it shows SET, it rings even if you close Peal.

What you need

Set up

  1. Install Peal

Peal is in testing, so it installs through TestFlight, Apple's app for trying apps before they are released.

    1. Install TestFlight from the App Store.
    2. On your iPhone, open the Peal invite link. In TestFlight the app is listed as Peal Alarms; install it. On your home screen it is called Peal.

The invite link is not public yet. At the demo, ask for it.

  2. Open Peal and allow alarms and notifications

The first time you open it, Peal says Peal needs two permissions:

    • Alarms lets Peal ring an alarm you asked your assistant for, even when your phone is on silent or in a Focus.
    • Notifications are used for reminders you ask for. (Backup notices for alarms are off while Peal is in testing.)

Tap Continue, then allow both when your iPhone asks.

  3. Add Peal to your assistant

Your assistant needs this connector address:

    https://peal.bytortoise.com/mcp

Claude, on the web or Claude Desktop

Only have your iPhone? Do this step in Safari at claude.ai.

    1. Open Customize, then Connectors.
    2. Click + Add, then Add custom connector.
    3. Name it Peal, paste the address above as the server URL, and click Continue.
    4. If Claude asks how people connect, choose Sign in now. If Claude asks which OAuth client to use, choose Register automatically. Click Add.
    5. Claude opens Peal's sign-in page. Go on to step 4, Enter the code from Peal. If the page does not open, click Connect next to Peal in Connectors.

Custom connectors work on every Claude plan; on the Free plan you can add one. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner adds the connector first, under Organization settings, Connectors; then you click Connect. A connector added on the web or desktop also shows up in the Claude iPhone app the next time you sign in there.

    Claude Code

    In a terminal, run:

claude mcp add --transport http peal https://peal.bytortoise.com/mcp

Then, inside Claude Code, run /mcp and follow the steps to sign in. Your browser opens Peal's sign-in page; go on to step 4, Enter the code from Peal.

    Other assistants

Any assistant that supports remote MCP connectors with sign-in (OAuth) can use Peal. Add a connector with the address above. Look for custom connectors or MCP servers in its settings.

  4. Enter the code from Peal

Your assistant opens a page headed Connect Claude to Peal (or your assistant's name). It asks for a code.

    1. On your iPhone, open Peal and tap Connect an assistant. If you already have alarms, it is under Assistants, top right.
    2. Tap Show code.
    3. Type the code into the page and press Connect.

A code lasts ten minutes. If it runs out, tap New code. On the same phone, tap Copy under the code in Peal and paste it on the page. The page also names where it will return to, such as claude.ai; if that is not your assistant, stop there.

Peal's Connect an assistant screen: step 1 shows the address https://peal.bytortoise.com/mcp with a Copy button, step 2 shows a code such as K7QM-R2XD that expires in under ten minutes.
Connect an assistant, with a code showing.
  5. Tap Allow in Peal

Once the page takes the code, Peal asks Allow Claude to set alarms? Tap Allow. Nothing an assistant sends reaches your phone until you do.

If you had left Peal, it asks the next time you open it. If it does not ask, tap Review on Peal's home screen.

Each assistant can set up to 20 alarms a day. You can change that, or remove the assistant, any time under Assistants.

Peal's Allow sheet: Allow ChatGPT to set alarms? It connected from chatgpt.com. It can set up to 20 alarms a day. An Allow button, and a separate Don't allow button below.
Here for ChatGPT. Yours names your assistant. Allow sets it up; Don't allow disconnects it.
  6. Try it

In a new Claude chat, tap +, then Connectors, and check that Peal is on.

Open Peal, then ask your assistant something like:

    • Wake me at 6:30 tomorrow.
    • Set an alarm for 7 every weekday.
    • Remind me to call the dentist at 2 pm.
    • What alarms have you set?
    • Move my gym alarm to 6:45.
    • Cancel tomorrow's alarm.

Right now, Peal can put an alarm on your phone only while the app is open on screen. If Peal is open when you ask, the assistant says the alarm is set and Peal shows SET. If Peal is closed, the assistant says the alarm is not on the phone yet. Open Peal and wait until the alarm shows SET. Until then it will not ring, and no backup notification is sent. Once it shows SET, you can close Peal and it still rings.

On one phone: ask in the Claude app, then switch to Peal and wait until the alarm shows SET.

Every alarm needs a time zone. Assistants usually know yours. If yours asks, tell it your city.

Peal ringing: 8:44 AM, Wake up for the 8:10 Caltrain, Set by Claude, Ringing now, with a Stop button.
When it rings, stop it in Peal, on the Lock Screen, or in the Dynamic Island.

Good to know

It rings like an alarm
An alarm rings even when the phone is on silent or in a Focus. You can stop it from the Lock Screen, the Dynamic Island, or in Peal. A reminder arrives as a notification instead.
Peal never sets an alarm on its own
Only a request from an assistant you allowed creates one. An assistant sees and changes only the alarms it set.
Removing an assistant
In Peal, tap Assistants, tap the assistant, then the remove button at the bottom (for Claude it reads Remove Claude). Peal lists every alarm that removal cancels, and you hold the button to confirm. To use that assistant again, connect it with a new code.
What Peal keeps
No account, no email, no name, no phone number. Peal's server keeps the alarms you asked for (label, time, time zone, repeat, and whether the phone set them), the assistants you connected (name, the site they connected from, their daily limit), and a random key for your phone, stored only as a hash. Ended alarms are deleted after 30 days. If your phone has not been in touch for 180 days, everything is deleted. The privacy policy has the full list.
Deleting everything
In Peal, tap Settings, then hold Delete Peal data at the bottom. Peal says first: Deleting Peal data cancels every alarm on this phone, disconnects every assistant, and removes your Peal record from the server. This cannot be undone.

If something goes wrong

The sign-in page says That code did not match.
Codes last ten minutes. In Peal, tap Make a new code (or New code if it has run out) and enter the new one. After several wrong tries the page asks you to wait ten minutes.
The assistant says the alarm will not be set until the user allows this assistant
Open Peal. Tap Review on the line that says the assistant wants to set alarms, then tap Allow.
The assistant says the alarm is not on the phone yet
Open Peal and keep it on screen for a few seconds. When the alarm shows SET it will ring, even after you close Peal. Until then it will not ring.
Peal says Alarms are turned off for Peal
Tap Open Settings in Peal, turn on Alarms and Notifications, then come back to Peal.
The sign-in page says Too many tries. Wait ten minutes.
Turn off Wi-Fi and try again on mobile data, or wait ten minutes.
The assistant says it has reached its limit of alarms per day
In Peal, tap Assistants, tap the assistant, and raise its Daily limit (up to 50).
The assistant asks for your time zone
Tell it your city. Peal does not guess a time zone, so an alarm always rings at the time you meant.
